4/20/2025 - PyNori v1.6.0

Hey all, Shirley here with another PyNori update. This one was a little bigger than I thought I'd be (in terms of bugfixes, not content), but first, let's go over the content.

Firstly, for the Omnicide enjoyers, if you ever thought the final boss was difficult, well, try changing the difficulty. (Spoiler alert: the first 3 are the same thing, try the fourth difficulty. Hint hint.)

Secondly, a new quirk has been added to the game! Wow, it's been quite a while since the last quirk addition, eh? Last time I introduced a new quirk was in v1.3.1, and it was as an apology for making a bunch of changes to the game that caused more issues. Anyway, the new quirk is called Time Crunch! This quirk turns the game into a "time attack"-ish Omnicide playthrough. What do I mean by "time attack-ish"? Well, you know how each area has a population, and how you progress by taking steps forward? The Time Crunch quirk makes it so the population must be smaller than the steps you have left to take in order for you to survive. If there are more enemies than remaining steps, that's Game Over.

In case you're confused, allow me to explain. Say you're in Kiku Village, which has a population of 5. You've killed 3 enemies so far, so the population is now 2. You've taken 7 out of the 10 required steps to clear the area, which means you have 3 steps left to take. If you encounter an enemy on your 8th step and kill it, you're safe for another step. If you run from/spare the enemy or don't encounter one at all, taking another step forward will result in an instant Game Over (because you would then have taken 9/10 steps when the population is 2, and this quirk prohibits you from taking more steps than necessary, so one of the enemies is permanently out of reach).

And now, for a long list of bugfixes/misc changes that should have been a lot shorter but isn't!
1: Fixed more false positives in the code that checks if your Save Data is new, and by extension, fixed a Save Data loading issue or two.
2: Certain booleans that were loaded into the game as strings are now handled as real booleans because I'm no longer an idiot and should be able to load booleans without making a janky system to do so.
3: Fixed a "she-who-resides-at-the-21st-step" battle crash when checking how many Omnicide runs the player has completed (the code was still checking Runs.ini as if it used the pre-1.5.0 format).
4: If "she-who-resides-at-the-21st-step" inflicts damage upon herself during a Melee+ attack, the miss sound will no longer play.
5: Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosisplateau has been renamed to Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Plateau. Wow, truly a game-changing update.
6: Siwi's defense has been decremented by 1 to make Kicking just barely possible. It's a pain though. Should I decrement it again? You decide!
7: Tin Can't now has less HP. 50 is a bit much for a cylinder of the metal variety.
8: Fixed the Generic RPG minigame referring to you as a masochist even if you selected the healer type instead. (That was caused by something called forgetting to change the text after copying and pasting it.)
9: Yami now deals less damage during her fight on Easy difficulty.
10: Selecting 4R on the title screen now ACTUALLY resets quirks. The fix was to delete 1 equals sign. Sigh... programming.
11: Fixed slight grammatical error in Megan Bite's flavour text. Megan Bite is jealous BECAUSE she's smaller than Grega Bite, not THAT she's smaller than Grega Bite. Saying "that" would imply that she's jealous of... herself, because she's smaller than someone else. That makes no sense.
12: Cleaned up unnecessary duplicates of certain lines in the overworld. This doesn't apply to the April Fool's event... yet.
13: Dyarix no longer talks about continuing to the next area (not even if the Randomiser quirk is active).
14: Fixed Healing Zones being turned off after taking a step forward even if the player chose not to skip it when prompted.
15: Fixed formatting errors with some of the final boss' sister's dialogue.

Wowie zowie, that's a long list! Hopefully this record never gets beaten! [subtle foreshadowing]

Anyway, enjoy the update, and as usual if I royally messed anything up please send a bug report!
