2/2/2025 - PyNori v1.2.0

Hey all, Shirley here with another PyNori update!

This update fixes a few bugs as usual, but it also brings something new to the table!

As for the bugfixes, the "unsaved progress" check is now even less likely to throw a false positive, some grammatical errors were fixed, Clef is now always unhappy if you're on a kill-everything route, Siwi and the Dolphin were slightly nerfed, "always.debug" is now completely deprecated (I forgot to remove a very old reference to it), and loading your saved progress works a bit better now. There were no huge issues before, but I fixed a small one.

As for the new things this update brings to the table? Well, this version should be the very first to ACTUALLY run on MacOS right out of the box (as it turns out, MacOS handles files VERY differently from Windows, so I had to make a LOT of tweaks for it to work properly there). I actually have a low-end MacBook Air now, so I'm able to do MacOS playtesting whenever the hell I want instead of asking someone to do it for me and they end up never getting to it. Yay!

Aside from that, I added the ability for you to trade Max HP for HP in the [SECRET CHARACTER] fight, and I gave her a Melee+ attack (33% chance of hitting you, 66% chance of hitting herself, which will deal 25 damage to the target, so good luck).

Lastly, I'd like to introduce the new EXP system! That's right, enemies now have EXP just like in Undertale. This also means there are certain thresholds to meet when levelling up; you can either make it really easy or difficult for you to meet those thresholds depending on who or what you kill. No, don't worry, this game's EXP isn't short for "execution points".

By default, the game runs off of what's now called the "8-Kill System". To change to the EXP Kill System, go to Options on the title screen and select number 6 (Change Kill System).

Do note that older Save Files may have issues with v1.2.0. If you'd like to continue using your old save file, you may have to move it elsewhere to trick the game into creating a new one, then add missing values manually so the game can run properly (and of course, move the Save File back when you're done).

I do plan on creating a "PyNori Save File Upgrade Tool" that does all the necessary changes for you. However, every time I update the game in a way that introduces more mandatory keys in Pinori.ini, I'll have to update the tool as well, so I think I'd rather refrain from creating this tool until v2.x.x for the sake of not losing my goddamn mind. Until then, typing in a few missing words won't kill you (unless you have a deadly version of carpal tunnel, I guess).

But yeah, I hope you have fun with v1.2.0! Especially if you're running on MacOS, because this should actually work on your system now.
